GIS as Planning and Decision Support System (2006 – 2014)

This section illustrates how GIS has been used in my previous experiences and projects in diverse manners. As a platform to support our work and activities, a tool for understanding sites and regions, making planning suggestions and taking decisions. The analysis approach mostly applied in these examples is a method called multiple criteria evaluation (MCE). However, the approach here is not a traditional MCE but an adaptation. The process was customized to include "weighting factors", "grading borders" and it delivers a more intuitive raster of cells. This raster is a comprehensive way to represent for example locations and areas that best suite to desired conditions. It also allows to allocate a most suitable land use and to minimize development constraints.
